Clueless managers don’t know what to do. How do they know our skills ?

Skills matrix lol. The same managers who don't know what AWS is are going to know how to truthfully rate you ? Its fu---d up and they manipulate everything. Ask them to show what the decision was and they'll say they can't tell or just lie. Nothing you can do when community college managers are here

Skills matrix are easily manipulated, taken at face value and not fact checked. Pretty much a CYA scam with no oversight.

How about the criteria that you have to be at work 80% of the time? I have 2 colleagues in my department who are on some kind of medical leave. They can call in whenever they want. While they are gone, the rest of the team has to cover their ARs, reports and meetings.

Skills not needed. Luck of being in the right group is what matters. I keep hearing perf has no impact. Nothing like tossing out high performers to keep the clowns. What a recipe for success this will be if that is what happens.

Skills matrix is irrelevant when they are just nuking entire groups

@a3 Seems backwards, no? In fab often PhDs with no experience will start G7 but takes years to truly contribute meanwhile some folks starting as techs or with bachelors will work their way from G3->G6 overperforming. If they just do it by grade and not performance, you're effectively doing layoffs based on pieces of paper unrelated to work and not thinking about performance. Plus, higher grades are more expensive.

@OP sounds like they go by grade level. Line up highest to lowest. If you have 3 or 4 people with the lowest grade level, then see what they are certified in. That is what I would do. Oh get rid of people with multiple written warnings. People with improvement required status.
