Thread regarding Ford layoffs

THE WRITING'S ON THE WALL

Anyone with any CAD history of seeing what is happening at Ford can't be blind to what the facts are. In the past 10 to 15 years any CAD guy that retired, died or just plain left the company was never replaced. 90% of the CAD work went to suppliers or India and Mexico. The average age of the CAD group has to be somewhere between 55 to 60. The writing's on the wall. Last one out...please turn out the lights.

Ford CAD has always been managed by people who don't understand or know how to use the tools. Many supervisors were on a rotation between working in some plant function or because their managers couldn't find a position for them anywhere else. They could not mentor those they supervised. Performance reviews were also a farce since you would not be assessed by someone knowledgeable or capable. Management has always looked down on CAD, but I would challenge any of these people to draw a straight line between two points on any software.

True. I saw this happening before I retired in 2020. It's so frustrating and sad.
