Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

Show of hands

Who here is no longer scared of layoffs? How many are hoping for severance to walk away from here? That was such a rare occurrence just a few years ago, but now, it seems everybody I talk to thinks this way.

The job market is not THAT horrible guys. I got a job and will be giving notice soon. Su-k it NetApp!!!

I would caution you, if you are let go as a poor performer, you will not get severence (this is the intent).

@jx It's terrible I was laid off in May. Have been unable to find a comparable job. So I'm upskilling in AI and consulting on the side. It's working out for me. But a layoff is only a good thing if you're ready to work hard.

@m2 This is why forced distributions of ratings don't work. Especially in the needs improvement category. D-mbest idea in history...

Yeah all these layoffs didn't make me want to work harder. What's the point. It's not even your performance that gets you laid off. It's arbitrary metrics that they force into performance square peg round hole style and act like we're stupid enough to believe them when they say performance is the reason.

If you only hire the best. And have already let go of the worst (of the best). How can there still people to let go a second time.
