Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

“Everyone’s replaceable”

This “everyone’s replaceable” bullsh-t is how we lost our best people. They fired senior engineers making $150k to hire kids fresh out of college at $80k. Now projects are failing left and right. But sure, keep telling yourself warm bodies equal talent. I’m taking my 15 years of experience to a company that actually values it.

Look at the threads throughout the ages about Principal Engineers at Cisco and it's clear you are the one "telling yourself warm bodies equal talent." It's not like they were proficient until they were promoted to that title. Cisco has incompetence all the way up and down the ranks.

If you aren't replaceable management isn't doing their job.

Projects are failing.
Wonder how many are certified that are "managing" them? Quite the risk hiring so many non-credentialled.

Senior engineers make a lot more than 150k. That's how i know this post is BS.

What they need to do is replace GSSO leadership. All those former PAN guys starting from TS have been nothing but a disaster.

"They want engineers, just not middle managers now "

Are you in Cisco ? For these 10+ years I only saw one manager been LRed due to political reason. I saw one manager all of engineers under him LRed, still a manager with brand new team.

How the mighty have fallen. Staffed from india or mx is the equivalent of what made in china really means. US engineers should really pay attention.

Grandpa forgot his meds again. As a customer for more than 30 years and having worked at Cisco for a time "projects are failing left and right" is how Cisco has always worked.

Do C level executives from customers with revenues far in excess of Cisco's still keep coming in to try to teach you how to do development or did they finally realize Cisco's employees will never be smart enough to learn?

where is this happening? we haven't hired a single IC in our section of SBG in...years, literally

I actually think it would be good for them to hire some new grads, at least Cisco would have a talent pipeline ACTUALLY IN NORTH AMERICA as opposed to the real "talent pipeline" being built in Bangalore
