F28 got off very light with F24 and AFO taking the brunt in the last round...will they use this as a new excuse

Just so everyone knows, the wage midpoint for all the grades in ireland is 50% of what the midpoint is in the US. So the Irish will happily swap the redundancy payouts with you for your wage packet if you prefer
Gr7 Midpoint in ireland €82K v >$140K in the US
@h3 Yeah it was the Irish that did it, sure buddy
@fj Intel was in deep sh-t in 2024 also in US, but somehow Irish employees got x4 CPM vs the rest of the world. And this is despite of the fact that the main reason for Intel's catastrophic losses in 2023-2024 was that Ann K. decided to start production of Meteor Lake at Fab34 at a time when this product had already shown its terrible performance and was of no use to anyone on the market, as it was inferior in performance to 7nm Raptor Lake. This led to colossal losses associated with the start of depreciation of all new semiconductor equipment, primarily EUV scanners. This corruptive "Irish" decision was the beginning of Intel's collapse. Naturally, this would not have happened if Intel's CEO at that time had not been Pat and had not supported this.
@em You had to be working there 21yrs to get the max 104 week payout. By law Intel only have to give 2 weeks per yr. Intel needs to give such extra perks there because it ain't top of the pecking order when it comes to recruitment, not even close.
@eg : Let us share Irish 2024 separation package vs. that of US fabs.
Here is the package, which was paid for employees with 2+ years service in Ireland last year: 7 weeks per year of service. (Maximum separation payout was 104 weeks or €500k). So, 104 weeks payment has got each Irish employee with 15 YOS in and only 26.5 weeks paycheck has got each US employee with the same 15 YOS.
@ef There's ISP this time in Leixlip and there has been in the past.
@cx If the dismissal of an employee is deemed fair (i.e. happens because of his capability, conduct, or capacity; or is a result of redundancy) Irish employer (Intel) can start termination procedure. The termination procedure in Ireland is progressive. It starts with an or-l warning, followed by a written warning, a final written warning, suspension without pay and dismissal. For each of these stages, specific procedures need to be put in place and every stage would take about a quarter. An employee can easily challenge the dismissal procedure at any of these stages in court, which will turn a fair dismissal into an unfair dismissal. This is the reason why Fab24 had no ISP in 2016 or 2024. All employees were terminated either with VSP or ERP. And this is the reason why Intel first introduced ICE hiring in Ireland in 2015. It was only in 2017 that this practice was extended to other countries. Considering that Fab34 in Leixlip is only 51% owned by Intel and 49% by Apollo (NYSE: APO) since June 2024, any investment in the Irish plant only brings Intel 50% of the profits and, in fact, has no future prospects. It will be very strange if Leixlip will ever get new technology in the future. Our warm greetings to you again from all former Intel employes.
@cs That's clearly not true, there is no such law
@a6 By the law in Ireland you can't fire someone involuntarily without a probationary period of more than 1 year. So there was a long queue of people in 2016 and 2024 at Fab24 who wanted to get VSP or early retirement package with a huge CPM of 350-500K euros. Everyone who started work in time of 65nm has left voluntarily, paid houses for themselves and their children and sent now a warm greeting to those who stayed. We will always be grateful to Intel for its treatment of former employees.
F28 is just a welfare charity to steal work from americans
F28 is overdue for cost cuts. They have played victimhood and sympathy card enough number of times.
F24/Ireland always was a leader in new process ramps and production yields. But got unfair treatment mostly.
They've moved to america to steal american jobs.
