I recall being a vendor to Intel and thinking how constipated was the interaction and purchasing processes. I assumed it was the normal arrogance that came with being THE dominate player... I'm really starting to wonder if it was all a cover-up... Holy cow!
@c4 AMD will suffer as much as us. x86 is the loser here.
Intel is planning to abandon foundry and becomes OS centric software company soon to replace Windows, Apple OS, Android, Linux etc …
Of course it depends on which software.
If it is software core to selling hardware it stays. That is just 10% of the bloated software team.
There is 10 % trying to make software to sell. This is not Intel's core competency and is unprofitable. It is cut.
The last 80% is useless overhead. They are cut.
If you are in software , you know what group you are in so, easy to figure out if you will get chopped.
Very tough to find good software people in the company. Software mind set is lost.
Intel software is an advantage…..? Lol since when? Intel software is and has always been garbage. Not surprising though considering those are the groups who haven’t been on-site in years and spend most of their weeks doing nothing under the guise of “working remotely”
There will be deep cuts to software. Risks losing one of our few advantages over AMD. We should be following NVIDIA’s example rather than ignoring it.
Need software otherwise Intel hardware is quite unusable for AI.
