Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

So how "mandatory" is the RTO mandate really?

So with this new "mandatory" RTO mandate stating we have to be in the office 4 days a week, how strictly is that enforced? I see many teams who only were in the office twice a week during non-busy times continue to do so, and teams where they rotate who is in the office on what day of the week continue to do that.

Am I correct that they are not enforcing it that hard and it's more just hoping the strong-ish language is enough to get you to waste your time and money on the 405?

@eh

Right on.... Especially considering Mattel underpays everyone and hires mostly women so that they can underpay without much complaining.

@cr the “pandemic era” accommodations were the only thing left that resembled a reasonable benefit for working parents with rising childcare costs. Unlimited PTO is a joke and we all know it and I’m sure that’ll be gone soon enough.

Keep taking away anything that somewhat resembles a benefit and they’ll keep losing people just like always. Hiring fresh newbies won’t replace the years of generational knowledge and experience that made these companies what they were. They’ve burnt us all out and want to keep taking more and paying the workers less with no promos or raises in sight. Well done.

Looks like Ynot and HR have joined the conversation.
Successful companies have learned how to make use of in person and remote work. A combination of both is the future.
How about we save some money and only have people come in that need to collaborate in person? Then downsize the offices accordingly to save money.

@cr Because there is more to life than work, and anyone who is able to do their job from home should be able to? If someone can do their job perfectly well from home, and not have to burn hours and hours commuting or di-king around the office pretending to work, why shouldn't they be able to? Our jobs take up too much of our time as is, God forbid someone want to work from home to have some semblance of work-life balance.

It's not time to move on, if anything it's time to get angrier and demand more of it.

I think the real question we should all be asking ourselves is why is remote working even an option at this point? Covid was the reason anyone ever started working remotely in the first place and Covid ended nearly five years ago at this point. It’s time to move on people, we can’t keep clinging to these pandemic-era accommodations forever.

Please get a grip.

Mattel (Ynot) deserves a walk out. Let's make it happen.

My entire team is burning out. Leadership keeps shuffling responsibilities. We keep having to redefine our jobs to make up for layoffs and restructuring. The work keeps coming. Benefits keep constricting. No relief in sight.

Maybe Ynot will get another 10 mil out of this. Company is a dumpster fire at the top.

He's a completely out of touch old man that should be put to pasture.

Companies a are moving to 4 day work weeks with flexibility. Mattel the complete opposite.

All this does is reduce work ethic of good employees since everyone is concentrating on the negative things the company is doing.

People are intentionally doing less now and will stop working at night and after 5. They won't like the result. Why should I work after hours continually if the company is not flexible. Sc--w them!!

The goal is to get people to quit. That way they don't need to pay out severance. They will continue to degrade benefits and flexibility to force more out.

Next they'll do something with PTO to pi-s more people off.

The ones who where there 4 days a week , got laid off back and March sadly. Those who stayed, keep slacking and are available upon request.
