Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

A good team should not have.

According to Fortune 500 magazine, to be a strong company, you need strong workers. I work in AZ and why do we have id--ts and snowflakes as supervisors and fab workers. Why do we have

  • lazy a$$ team member that do the bare minimum
  • team member always out on medical leave
  • team members with mental issues
  • team members with work restrictions
  • team members always kissing the boss’s a$$ but don’t do a bit of work.

Would you have weak solders in your unit to fight the enemy? He-l no! They would not make it past boot camp. So why does Intel have weak workers?

Teams should not hire candidates from the left over pool. There is a reason why those people didn’t get picked.

Sadly too many teams including mine have extremely low performers. They've been around for 10+ years and leaves no doubt in my mind why we create lesser than mediocre products and revenue per employee is lopsided

DEI hiring practices: maybe your team is weak, bur at least you are all diverse!

weak leaders: letting an underperformer go is hard if the manager is not a true leader and they use false compassion or just fear confrontation. The team rots over time with bottom performers destroying it as you described

salary: if you want the best, need to pay them above the average

culture: people are sourced from the community. Look at downtown Portland. Is this a place you would recruit your dream team from?

@OP, Because it’s hard to let someone go, it’s easier to move them from area to area. Very few managers will do the hard work or don’t have the time to put into what it takes to fire someone, that’s why Intel has weak workers.

DEI doesn’t help. DEI puts some people in positions they should not be in. Earn your place without the aid of DEI.
