Intel is full of people doing stuff that doesn't matter

Intel is full of people doing stuff that doesn't matter... from TPS reports to duplicate departments all claiming they are responsible. More checkers checking the checkers and no real hard core engineering feats being achieved.

This is the result of terrible culture, managers hoarding power and information but not making anything anyone wants to buy.

These efforts to cut are too little, too late. The problem is quite intractible.

It looks like not only spans and levels but if you are working in department that is deemed redundant, then big cuts.

Also, big cuts in any teams that don't generate revenue. All overhead groups like sales, marketing, IT , support functions, legal, accounting, HR will be heavily targeted.

Intel has been working on stuff that doesn’t matter for 30 years. The executives chose the tic-toc method to sell the same chip rebranded over and over and spent zero time or money on innovation.

This is absolutely true. In another view… basically every manager says let’s be “strategic” and so everyone becomes a PowerPoint artist but no one actually executes because that isn’t prioritized

Intel is full of people just sit in meetings all day long, without doing anything.

For example, TD automation group has over 2000 people. Five years ago, the group just has 200. The group is supposed to maintain a few fab software, which is supposed to be automated and just need 20 people at most. The extra 2000 people are just email writers and meeting sitters.
