Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

No meaningful projects, no meaningful career

I don’t get how good young people can stay at a company that is doing so few meaningful projects and still expect to move up the ladder to a fulfilling and highly paid career. 40 years ago Exxon was expanding all over the world in all its business lines and we had opportunities for all the good people we hired. Today there are so few good projects, we are continually shrinking our manufacturing footprint, and our LCS growth opportunities are sadly stillborn.

There’s nothing left here but office politics and the ranking hunger games. So why do good, ambitious, and otherwise intelligent young people still hang on here hoping that it’s going to turn out differently for them? You’re all missing the fundamentals: no good growth projects, no meaningful career.

It’s simple. I messed up staying. Thought being resilient and stubborn to the politics and back stabbers would work. I was wrong.

You must’ve not looked for a job for a long time. It’s hard to find a job these days, even for good ambitious young people, and it’s a worldwide phenomena. I don’t envy the young, and hope more opportunities come up for them. Many will have to settle and suffer high COL and depressed job markets for a v long time, and soon they are old like us.

LOL impostor spotted! You're not from here, are you? If you really are, just f-ing look around, and you will see there are so many youngsters so inspired by these incompetent shallow leaders want to be like them. These leader-wannabes think they can scoot around doing nothing, knowing nothing, and can still be promoted up. They just need to get into a position like a planner which basically is like a pole dancer at your fav strip club and they'll be taken up by their sponsors which then they'll sit on a space-x aircraft big f-ing rocket, maybe literally if you know what I mean. They just need to dress up, say something that sounds like what their leaders might say, say something cringiest in front of their sponsors, do some namedropping here and there where talking to others. That's all you need to succeed here! So much ROI potential!! It's you who don't understand. My leader's output is just sending some cringey DEI loaded newsletter every month and that's all she does. No need to take care of any operational things, just let things run on their own. it's you who don't understand the business model of onlyf-ns. So, what's bad about the career here again?
