Definitely ACT, they not only perp walked people, they banned them from coming back to the company based on a spreadsheet algorithm even if they had good performance. Absolute clown show.

Walking out with security... Pure act class. Of course ACT was the worse, I don't think Intel could recover from that. Seeing your colleagues putting stuff in a box and walking with security when yesterday they were just there... And many of them had few stock because they asked their managers for that. Terrible and d-mb.

The other thing that made ACT horrible was that the criteria was leaked to the Oregonian before it all went down... So people knew they were going to get canned. It was pretty obvious from the reporting that HR just kept adding more criteria to their formula until they hit their target numbers. How many years in grade, how many times you got a certain stock level, etc. A lot of great people got walked out by people in suits. It was horrible.

ACT was the only layoff that I saw where people were crying in the hallways and being perp-walked out the door by security, which also offered retirees an enhanced retirement set of bonuses.

It just doesn't get any better than that, unless security were to start eliminating people in the Cafe courtyard. But that would be illegal.

ACT. Where people were just walked out on the day they were informed and where they used stock level grants as an indicator of performance.

The second layoff which @af is referring to was called SET at that time and was a brain child of Bain

ACT - let's get rid of people so we can make room for DEI hires.

ACT - HR with an axe to grind. Absolutely no manager input. Let's have the spreadsheet lay people off

Agree with others - ACT was the worst and in many ways lead to rapid deterioration and the current situation.

Next in the ranking will be the 2006 layoffs and re-org which split people management and the functional management (also had a name which skips my mind). That layoff was the starting point of demise of engineering driven culture.
