Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Run!

Working at Intel right now feels like being trapped in a slo-mo corp car wreck where everyone can see it'll happen but nobody's has ba--s to say it (unless u are on this site)...
Heres everyones regular day at Intel: Show up... Check if your badge still works// Wonder if today's the day. Attend meetings about meetings. Pretend the latest "strategic realignment" makes sense... Go home. rinse/repeat...
When they cut you they don't fire you cleanly. First comes the ominous all-hands about "difficult decisions ahead."
Then weeks of nothing. Productivity craters because everyones parlyzed. 1/2 the good people quit just to end the torture, cannot stand it any more.
Mission accomplished - headcount reduced without severance payouts.
Lets say they do not cut you- you just won the lottery of doing three jobs for one salary...
The institutional knowledge walked out the door with the cuts, but don't worry - we'll hire contractors at triple the cost to figure out what those people actually did.
The H1B is a scam yet... The H1B folks have it worst. 60 days to find a new job or leave the country.
Nothing says "family company" like deportation deadlines.
The meetings... We'll spnd hours discussing why productivity is down while the answer is sitting right there in the room - 1/2 the chairs are empty and the other half are filled with people updating their resumes. LOL. Just LOL...
Here's what ki-ls me: they'll cut the engineer who built the entire system, keep four managers who don't know what the system does, then act surprised when everything breaks. Six months later they'll post the same engineering job with worse pay and wonder why nobody applies.
Ok, the rant continues, gotta touch upon this one: performance review process is comedy gold.
"Performance-based layoffs" means "whoever costs the most gets axed."
Doesn't matter if you're carrying the team if your salary doesn't fit the spreadsheet, you're gone. At least leadership is consistent. Consistently making decisions that would get you fired at any functional company.
Intel used to mean something, now it's just another case study in how MBA thinking can ki-l ANY engineering excellence
To anyone considering joining: don't. There are better ways to hate Mondays.
To anyone stuck inside: you're not crazy. This place is crazy, not you.
And to anyone planning their exit: RUN. Don't walk, stroll. Just RUN!!!!!!

Great post!!!

This is very true: they'll cut the engineer who built the entire system, keep four managers who don't know what the system does, then act surprised when everything breaks. Six months later they'll post the same engineering job with worse pay and wonder why nobody applies.

I will echo this too: Intel used to mean something, now it's just another case study in how MBA thinking can ki-l ANY engineering excellence

Crazy part is LBT will support all thes changes his "trusted " advisors are making but will be stuck with the same dead weight. Explain how the CEO of Intel has 21 direct reports and that's efficient lol

Life can throw the most insanely fu---d up situation your way; but it’ll resolve itself in the end. The world abides if the dude abides.
