70-80K annual base salary for GC12

Hi, I was offered around 70 to 80K base salary and the grade code was 12.
Could you advise if this amount is normal or good package? My experience is about 10 years by the way.

@r3 Hi, i'm about to join Aramco for a writer position soon. Is it all as doomed and gloom as being discussed on this platform?

Yep, terrible offer, my base was 2x that in GC12 in 2011 in Global Payroll, Western Europe.

That little experience and working in Aramco is expat is a dead end. Sorry to say it, you're in career su----e territory, no promotions, no recognition and stuck at a low grade code, while others around you get promoted because of the color of their passport. Other gulf states may have a better quality of life, but at your level of seniority its unlikely you will find it any better. Cash wise salaries are no better.

Anywhere stateside in O&G pays better these days. Those that have an ounce of ambition don't come to Aramco anymore.

As much as I hate this place, is there anywhere paying roughly the same but with a much better quality of life? Specially for those with or less than 10 YOE. Qatar? Abu Dhabi?

I started at that basic in 1993.

70k is embarrassing for a U.S. expat, though might be a fine salary for someone from Venezuela or Nigeria. Aramco wants the cheapest people it can find, that won't have any impact on quality will it?

If I got an offer for $85k for an expat gig I wouldn’t actually tell anyone or talk about it. Recalling back in 2005 $110-$120k with tax balancing was the base to work in the Caribbean LMAO. 20 years ago.
These days? At home in our 3000+ square ft houses where we are masters of our own personal security it’s a 20 min commute for $200- $220k on 4/10’s or 9/80’s with one-two days a week remote that does it for us.
Truckloads of gold and promises wouldn’t pry us from that to move over there. Not when our favorite bar with $15 steaks and $2 draft is right on the corner 😂 Trade that for the $1000 weekends in Bahrain and everything is good.

I will say Aramco was OK until around 2017. So you have officially missed the good days. Timing is everything.

The last two threads are about weak offers with some truthful posts. This disposal well of a govt agency continues layoffs of some adequately paid talent while scrambling to backfill the cubicle bins with unsuspecting waste (you) to pump downhole. This place is disgusting inside and out. Let this place blow into the Persian Gulf like the rest of its trash. No raise. No promotion. No learning. No resume improvement. No respect. No more benefits. No odorless sanctuary. No reason to consider.

Almost sure that offer is for Asian payroll. It is unfortunately the lowest. Then again, it might be a lot of money where you will be spending it in. Might not be the greatest but you have a better job stability than the rest.

You are either an Indian engineer for that kind of offer or a western technical writer.

Seriously, if you need to check this site for advice about your offer, you are Aramco material, go and discover yourself magic kingdom.

This is the current norm for Aramco. The days of high expat wages are long gone!

Aramco is a black mark on your CV, unless you plan to move regionally (eg to adnoc), then it will be seen for what it is - a deskilling exercise in a far away land. Everyone in industry knows Aramco is a sham job, don’t expect it will open any doors, it’s most likely will damage your career back home.

Thanks for all comments! It helped a lot. I thought it would be ok because standard overbase and supplement amount will be added. Anyway, it would be good for me to know where my offer is located. By the way, do you guys think it would be better to move other major oil and gas companies from here to improve my career?

It’s a very poor package compared to others. Everything is relative, and as some on here have said, your current salary must be low. If the sums work for your own personal situation then consider it.
However GC12 is reserved for grads and those with less than 3 years experience, also consider there is no career for you at aramco and no promotions. Personally I would see this kind of offer as insulting.

Previous poster is correct. Your offer depends on what your salary is at your current job or previous employment. It may seem like a good offer but once you realize what others in the same role are getting as compared to you, you will not be happy. Happened to me. I (IMO) was smart, hardworking and actually cared. I wanted to prove myself. Then you find out what some lazy dummies are pulling in and nothing you do makes any difference to your caste, cannot help but sour.

it can be depending where ur coming from...Aramco makes offers based on what u currently make...but for western expats the offer seems low...why don't you counter offer.

So you have 10 years experience and you think 70k base is a good deal? Where do you currently work? Are you unemployed?

Where are you from, Latin America, Eastern Europe, Africa?

This is a terrible offer, GC12 is the same as local grads.

You must be desperate to be cane contemplating such an offer.
