Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

Ode to EDJ

I have been offered the VSP. I have accepted it but will wait to see if my acceptance has been accepted. 🙄 I have given my blood, sweat and tears to this firm for many years. In return I have gained so much knowledge, skill and wisdom. Over the years I’ve earned a reliable but below industry salary, a bonus that does not match my position/contribution but I am always grateful for. I have insured my family, saved for retirement and have a reasonable LP that I want to continue to hold when I leave. That means I will not be permitted to work in the financial services industry when I leave EDJ. I accepted the VSP as I want out now before I harbor a grudge and become bitter towards the firm that was my family and a big part of my identity. I want out now so I can remember when we put the client first, when we had a sense of ownership and pride in our contributions. We always talk about the unique and special culture. It is gone now and not coming back. A reorganization is definitely needed. Too bad the consequence has eliminated what made EDJ special. Good luck training the AI who replaces me to make good judgement decisions. I will be ok. EDJ, I hope you will be ok too but you will have to do it without out me.

@OP thank you! Glad you have the courage to leave. It's sad what Penny has done to this firm. She brought in so many people to manage this firm from the outside and they didn't understand our culture or what made this firm special. They want our firm to be like everyone else. I pray every day that penny comes to her senses and listens to the message of Ted Jones. Money was NOT his God but that is all our leadership cares about anymore. Love that you look at what this firm gave all of us and it's because all that we gave it. I am proud to know this firm celebrated 100 years because of US! Praying for all of us in St Louis that God watches over us and makes sure we are all taken care of. So sad that the dream of Edward and Ted Jones died, all so our executives can be rich.
