$10K Phased Retirement Sweetener: Voids Severance/RIF Packages

So they sweetened the pot on early phased retirement with a $10K offer.

But if you accept you will not be able to take a severance RIF package if one comes along. Probable cheaper way for them to clear out low hanging fruit before they go to RIF's/severance.

Suspect it will generate very few takers other than those that were literally about to already retire already. $10K phased retirement pales in comparison to long term rif severance.

I'd like to know who got these too. I know one email went out saying some got info they might be offered to apply (don't you love the wording) to ATT or the new company. It sounds like this for the $10k went out the same time. Did this go to only those close to retiring?
The writing is on the wall as much as I hate to admit it and hoping for a miracle that I know will never come.
What departments have gotten the notices or any notice does anyone know? My question is for (that is if its true and some say with lumen) to support ATT for 2 yrs since att did and is doing RTO will that affect the QF remote workers?

I really hope Karma bites those in the butt that has cause all this and to ruin so many lives and many that have nothing to fall back on and this was their starting over after a major life disaster. Now what.

@1np agree completely on the Enterprise/Mid Market side customer facing. Been closing six figure deals through the year which are paying five figure commissions. Sales is fortunate for sure, only a small number do real well...much better than me and they will bring home $500k + in commissions. Not possible without the outstanding field/installation teams.

@1m3

Right now I know of no one who’s serious about going to NetworkCo, just too many unknowns.. plus there are scores of other established fiber to the home providers out there these days.

Form the conversations I’m hearing most Supervisors, just like a lot of the techs of mass markets are all ready looking for work elsewhere, Or they are making plans on retiring and moving on with life if it’s an option,

The mass exodus will continue to gain momentum throughout the summer, and will only get worse once the “Holdout$” begin to figure out that The old fashioned Buy out$$ and severances won’t be coming!

Ship is sinking fast and only those people who’s work is customer facing and directly related to the Enterprise products will have any sort of a future, along with the contractors who will soon be replacing the internal employees who are currently doing the maintenance work/ splicing

In short I don’t anyone who’s got a warm fuzzy feeling about their future prospects at Lumen or NetworkCo, everyone is planning to leave some just think that they are entitled to a consolation / Participation prize! 🏆

If you are not in Dallas or Atlanta, any Lumen manager is gone.

I'm just going to keep going until Lumen drops the hammer on me, or for another ten years whichever comes first, likely Lumen dropping the hammer will come first.

So my department was just told there were no plans for layoffs. We were told both sides need employees for growth and just decide who goes where.

"Probable cheaper way for them to clear out low hanging fruit before they go to RIF"

Let's be clear, their plan to ditch people is always cheaper, how they name it does not matter. The end goal is to unload as many as they can. They now made a 3-tier F-the-employee system with this new $10k BeeS. Voluntary RIF, Involuntary RIF, $10k BS.

Always wait for the Involuntary RIF if that's where the most money is.

Agree. If its phased and youre ready to go today why not take it. Otherwise keep collecting that check but also know whats coming down the road.
