Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Level 8 and 9 managers

My question is how do such nitwits reach level 8 and 9 to become GCL, leads, etc.

They have 0 managerial or people skills, half of them can't even pronounce "environment" correctly.

They have 0 planning skills and rely on last minute update to put associates under pressure.

Associates are expected to put their time off months before to give enough time for planning, yet these d-mb doorknobs bring last minute items forcing associates to forfeit their day offs.

What a sh-t show

I'll step in and say not all managers are like this.

But.......yes, the majority have been here a long time and learned how to work the system, a few even have their children working here now to continue milking the system.

Fidelity should invest in a good management training and hire managers, not developers that have been here a long time, and your firm might be successful long-term. LISTEN to your employees (you can't handle the truth that you're failing and all you have to do is lift the in-office mandate and watch Fidelity soar.) LEAD the industry, treat your employees like professionals not blue collar workers, it's insulting.

Otherwise, soon, Fidelity will look around and all the experience will be gone.
THEN ABBY CAN LOOK IN THE MIRROR AND SEE THE REASON WHY.

You have to stroke the correct egos and other things in order to get into management. You're better off investing in an index fund and beating those silly managers at their own game.

I sympathize with you OP, but that's corporate world in a nutshell.

No matter which big corporate form you are in, the hierarchy and beaurocracy gets the better of low level associates, who actually do the "dirty work".

God forbid if an associate frowns for a second when asked to cancel their day off (which they planned months before), the poor associate can say goodbye to whatever little bonus they were about to receive.

These people do a great show off and pretend as if they know everything in front of higher management. Developers are not allowed to speak in meetings. They clarify all the points with developers separately and in meetings speak as if they are running the show.

Do you think they would be working for Fidelity if they were smart??

They are nothing but bunch of insecure individuals who are only good at stealing credits, favoring their own kind.

They've got no organizational planning whatsoever, yet they pride themselves in being a leaders of their domain.
