I felt like I was downgraded at Ford with my skills, people who did the same thing for 4 years claimed all seniority, some of them still working on the same thing for more than 10 years in their 50s. When it comes to developing any new , they are brain dead, but the management likes them because they keep the Matlab models and specifications from people who left the company. A big oversight in the management who is doing the actual work, and who is just passing the legacy of 90s. I guess this is what they like to do to keep it up. I am in some way happy to get laid off. I get a chance to find a better paying job that I like. Even during the recession, I will manage it. My replacement will cost Ford over 200k at least. This is what the management wanted, with their technical experts. I don't believe that some of them even close to be called as technical experts, to be honest. At Ford, everything was possible from gaps in department and suffering - those who were laid off.
