Heads up to high performers looking to move up

Your biggest obstacle might be your own manager. Mine spent months blocking my transfer because losing me would hurt his metrics. Had to go over his head to HR just to get considered for an internal role. The sad truth is that many middle managers care more about protecting their fiefdoms than developing talent. Sometimes the only way up is out.

@OP I’ve actually never had that issue in 20+ years, leaders have always been supportive of helping associates get where they want to be.
