Thread regarding Ford layoffs

I used to love what I did

Ford was my dream job. Now I just count the hours until I can log off. The work’s the same, but the soul’s gone. Anyone else feel like they’re just going through the motions?

Yes. It’s disheartening to see all the churn and disorganization. We’ve let go of so much experience without training and those left seemingly have never been in a plant, never run a program through launch, never industrialized anything… we’re given no solid information or timelines, things change weekly then they tell us we’re late and not performing to objectives.

@OP. I hear you. Ford was always heavy in processes and red tape. However, I deal now with more pencilpushers, I have more meetings with no solutions, where a few are yapping nonstop, but nothing gets done, and I see more coworkers unmotivated, just going through the motions.

I still like the technical part, but I dread the red tape, the always changing paperwork, and the lack of real guidance from managers. For several months, from the LL4 to my LL6, all they care about is the d@mn RTO numbers. No matter if some projects are stopped, waiting for directions from the business. Neither matter if we are overworked because they let go people in the past, and the positions were backfilled in LCCs, which are not pulling their weight. No, what is important is hitting all those badge numbers, so the f.cking powerpoint presentation looks good. It is depresing, really!

Same here. Totally unmotivated. I used to work super hard and proud of my results….until someone backfilled me, did a sh-t job and get promoted because of DEI.
