I kept going back and forth on whether to leave. Then I asked myself, if layoffs weren’t hanging over everything, would I actually like this job? Would I be happy at Intel? The answer was no. That made the decision easy. I started updating my resume the next day and have my first interview on Monday. If it goes well, I'm gone.

Layoffs will not fix Intel. It is about building products that customers want fir the right price and performance. If the AI ship has sailed and Intel is still in port, this will be a long haul to catch up. Only CPUs may be left which will drive the right sizing when GPUs cannot be made competitive and Intel has zero Mobile processor market share.
Timing is not same for all to reach the realization. But all will get to that point one day.
Duh!
Why did you wait so long to make this assessment? It is not like things just started to su-k.
wishing you the best in your new life
