Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Engine Auto On/Off

Does an insider know why Ford won't allow us, via software, to PERMANENTLY disable this annoying feature?

How did Ford disable it in software when they weren’t putting the feature in during the chip shortage? There must be a way using OBD programming.

My gas mileage actually increased slightly when I started turning it off every time I start the car. Bronco Sport.

confused about your statement.

if you mean ignition off on idle time this can be toggled off in the HMI settings.

Probably not regulatory, but because automakers enable it on certification tests for fuel economy and emissions they need it to default on. Typically if they allow the customer to choose, the won't get the full credit for the benefit.

@OP I believe it's regulatory. There are ways to bypass it. One is just put the vehicle in Sport mode.
