Thread regarding Ford layoffs

The discouragement of stellar performers continues

It's rapidly getting worse here. Now that we have once again seen how the company "rewards" underperforming, does it even make sense to try to have a great performance here? How much are the best employees rewarded for their great performance?

There is very little financial reward for high performance at F. 2.7% raises even if inflation is 8. TA get an extra .25-0.5% lol

The stellar 30 year employees I know are all fed up. They see the injustice every day.
Now they go to work every day and do the minimum. They just don’t care.

Ford is literally Phaqued

Completely agree. There are better places to toil. I went well past 30 and retired from the Blue. At the end of the day the work I did was worth it. Yes survived all the nonsense, politics, reorgs, corporate fumble football with doing anything right, and the relentless push for diversity of employees and constant preaching, at the cost of everything and quality products. Ford will pay the price for nonsense. Point was to just work hard to the people who want what's 'fair', 9 months pay, all the extras. You may not get it - so be happy anyway.

str8chuter Yep hard work is rewarding. But I gotta tell ya there are far better places to toil. Always focused on doing the right thing and getting er done while at Ford. I didn’t realize how stressful and what a toll the extremely toxic ford culture has on one until I was no longer there. At the new employer no longer dragging deadweight uphill while dodging projectiles flung by coworkers and leaping roadblocks erected by management and their cronies. Six months away from ford and 70 lbs just melted away (no more stress eating and drinking). My advice - run to the nearest exit!

My grandfather's both told me hard work is its own reward. They worked over 60 years
(not a Ford 30) before retiring. They wished they could have worked less but they lived out their advice and they were not wrong.

I will be glad when Nov 30 gets here. Maybe then this can go back to being a layoff/job cuts discussion board. Now it is polluted with people wanting to meet the higher lump sum retirement deadline with an added severance bonus. If you haven't filed by now you are going to be too late.

Your compensation is defined. If you don't like it, you go elsewhere. You are not entitled to increased compensation because a company offers severance packages to avoid the legal issues associated with firing people. The whining about this is absurd. Especially from the people at retirement. Sure, an extra chunk of money on the way out the door would be nice, but that isn't part of your defined pension plan. Everyone with over 25 years has gone through many rounds of layoffs. Your reward in each case was keeping your job. You were glad you weren't walked out. No raises, delayed raises, cuts in 401k match. You stayed on - happy you weren't cut. Now, people getting cut get a package, and you think it isn't fair you don't get the same? Why did your attitude change?

They are given a " SIRP " and sent off. Been with for 7 years and witnessed a clear pattern - if you're pension eligible and have approx 20 years in, doesn't matter how great your performance is, you will be separated, terminated, SIRP'd, call it whatever you want. Look at everyone from the recent layoffs " open to work " on linkedin - IMO 90 percent of these good people performed well and were loyal to this poorly managed and dysfunctional company. Performance has nothing to do with success and maintaining a position with Ford. Great example, the epic fail of Argo and the so-called AV Llc. All the tech people who delivered were separated while all the business and service teams that failed remain. Nepotism is the norm, you want to keep your job, kiss a-s and join the cult.

The carrot is only there for you if you suck, says ford. What a motivator.
