Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Geoff has pushed out all long term experienced leaders

Since Geoff took office he has systematically thrown out long term leaders who made it up the ranks at Medtronic. He has replaced them with “outsiders” the majority of which have no MedTech experience.

To make things worse these new leaders are making mistake after mistake, due to their lack of experience and knowledge in MedTech. Hiring people just because they a business degree does not make them a “good” leader. Look at the hire to run the Pelvic Health business….someone with only a Journalism bachelors degree. How is this possible?

@a8 Bob White has to be one of the most ineffective leaders I've seen in my career. He failed on so many levels.

That's by design, friend. Cronyism. He wants allies, not dissenters. He wants to stay as long as he can, make his bag, get out with a bunch of shares for him and his friends. He's a rent-seeker. He does not WANT competent people that could take his place.

Uh huh. That's just what engineers want. Oversight and supervision from Liberal Arts and Business flunkies -- all mathematically challenged people who barely understand linear algebra. HR is a big part of the problem as well. Apocalypse Now !

HR should be asking --- what are we looking for in leaders that they don't work out?
