Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

PepsiCo today: You can’t sustain a positive public image forever when the people behind it are abused, silenced, or mistreated.

Unfortunately, there have been several cases reported here on Layoffs site, mostly from S&T ( collapse of DPA org unit and departure of G-yatri) , and it’s becoming clearer by the day - PepsiCo is not what it used to be, its internal culture has grown deeply toxic. It’s only a matter of time before that toxicity seeps through the cracks of the polished brand image they try so hard to maintain. You can’t sustain a positive public image forever when the people behind it are abused, burned out, silenced, or mistreated. Eventually, consumers will connect the dots - because a company’s true values aren’t what it advertises, but how it treats its own people… and in this area too many negative examples PEP employees are regularly sharing on this site . HR has failed them, Leadership ignored! Example: look at the most viewed Pepsico post here: title: Is G-yatri leaving Pepsico? 10,000 views! Simply viral!

PepsiCo has been the subject of extensive discussion on TheLayoff.com, with numerous employees voicing concerns about the company's internal culture, management practices, and recent layoffs. It may have one of the highest number of comments compared to some other companies, the volume and intensity of feedback suggest significant unrest within the organization.

Key Themes from Employee Discussions

  1. Toxic Work Culture in Digital & Tech Divisions (S&T and DPA predominantly)

A significant portion of criticism centers on PepsiCo’s Digital Products & Analytics (DPA) and Strategy & Transformation (S&T) divisions. Employees have reported:
A toxic environment marked by dishonesty and lack of integrity.
Leadership allegedly pressuring staff to embellish business impacts to avoid poor reviews.
Concerns about ethnic favoritism in promotions and hiring practices.
Fear of retaliation for voicing concerns, leading to a culture of silence.

  1. Layoffs and Restructuring

Employees have expressed frustration over recent layoffs, particularly during challenging job market conditions. Critiques include:

  • - The manner in which layoffs were conducted, with some feeling they were handled insensitively.
  • Concerns about being replaced by less experienced individuals or offshore teams.
  • Perceived lack of transparency and communication from leadership regarding restructuring plans.
  1. Leadership and Management Criticism: Several posts highlight dissatisfaction with senior leadership considering PEP performance in the recent years.

The depth and consistency of employee grievances indicate systemic issues that have impacted morale and trust within the company. The recurring themes of toxic culture, questionable leadership practices, and dissatisfaction with restructuring efforts suggest areas that may require attention from the company's leadership to rebuild confidence among employees!

@1e9 The stock has experienced a 12% decline year-to-date, underperforming the S&P 500, which has risen by 1% in the same period! Analysts attribute this decline to factors such as weak consumer sentiment and spending, as well as a mixed performance in the company's Q1 earnings, failed transformation and structural problems within the company! Meanwhile Coca-Cola's stock has risen approximately 16.5% year-to-date, reaching an all-time high in April 2025. This growth is attributed to steady global demand, effective pricing strategies, and resilience amid economic uncertainties.
Change of captain of Pepsico on the horizon?

Stocks continue to tumble! 129$ lowest in 6 years! Wanna bet it will hit below 125$ soon? That what happens when toxic culture ruins the company from the inside!

Also, I'm tired of seeing the "Corporate Challenge" posted on the screens. Who's left to play those games anymore? Just put the only events are "cricket" and "soccer." The other events (kickball, basketball, horseshoes, co-----e, etc.) are not native to other country running PepsiCo.

HR has failed to stem the tide of substandard Indian who have taken over all aspects of leadership and middle management to the point you as non indians cannot get any position.

There numerous instances of these mf blackmail you and bullying everyone non indian. No more.

We need a class action against HR on their failure to uphold the code of conduct. Impose immediately hiring freeze on all Indians. Audit those who were hired.

It is time for this company to clean itself of the cesspool these Indians have created.

@ag I disagree. Consumers choose PepsiCo’s processed food and beverage products primarily because of brand perception—not nutritional value. PepsiCo’s market position has been built on the strength of its positive brand image. But that reputation now appears to be unraveling. Comparing PepsiCo to Walmart is misleading—Walmart is not the benchmark for a brand-driven company like PepsiCo.

Image no longer matters, it’s only about corporate greed. Walmart would have gone out of business a long time ago if their image drove their survival.
