Thread regarding Medical Solutions layoffs

LAYING OFF SOMEONE WITH CANCER

Well MedSol you did it again!

Laid off someone currently going through chemo for a cancer that was diagnosed around Christmas.

RIGHT AFTER sending out a recognition partnership with a facility for employees who currently have/ had cancer.

The said employee has worked through EVERY treatment. When she was first diagnosed she lost her ability to walk and went through he-l. She has worked so hard to maintain her position and work load and works harder than anyone.

I am so sad for this person, their family and the double stress they will now carry.

@am They can legally lay you off during FMLA and maternity leave. In your FMLA paperwork, your employer gets to indicate whether your role is necessary to the company or not. If they check “no”, then they can still lay you off while on leave. It’s a crude move but there’s not a lot there keeping them from doing it.

So sad to hear that happened! They were calling in people who were on FMLA, PTO, maternity leave since all this started as well to have a meeting to lay people off. However, I don't believe that is legal for them to lay off people during those times (FMLA and maternity leave) it still occurred.

Best wishes to that individual! I know that must be really scary and extra stress that they don't need especially while battling cancer. My heart goes out to you!

That's just evil. This means their insurance will disappear now too, which I'm sure helped alleviate some of the costs of treatment. My best wishes for that employee. Cruel, corporate world we live in.

I am so sorry to hear this! But it definitely does not surprise me. I wish we all knew the why or how behind who they pick. Before, i think we were all sure, that it was based on if you were “one of theirs” but now I believe they forced the integration so fast just to be able to lay off aureus people asap. Once medsol people train WRS, they’re out as well.

They laid off people on FMLA, on maternity leave, out sick, on PTO etc. This by far is the worst one especially since they make sure to end the benefits on the very last day…. for a company like this… I’m Sure they’re just sitting proud as pie.
