Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Layoff Tsunami 2025

The tech layoff wave is still going strong in 2025... 20K+ workers already cut this year and Feb alone accounting for a staggering 16K of those. Microsoft is proudly leading the May scoreboard, shedding more than 6500 jobs because apparently, embracing an “AI-first future” requires saying goodbye to the engineers who built it. Amazon is letting go of employees from its Alexa, Echo, Ring, and Zoox divisions - which really makes you wonder if even your smart speaker has a pink slip coming. Chegg decided 22% of its workforce was expendable (hmmm_), a move triggered by students fleeing the platform and flocking to AI tools instead of traditional cheating solutions - who knew that virtual tutors wouldn’t demand benefits? crowdstrike, Match, and Canva are handing out layoff notices like they’re party favors, all in the name of “efficiency” and “strategic alignment.” What the fu-k does that even mean??? Meanwhile, Meta, Google, Salesforce, and Workday continue the game of hiring for AI roles while quietly cutting the humans who trained the AI in the first place... I guess it'll work on the body of knowledge we already have but good luck tryin g to invent something new... Even climate innovation isn’t safe - General Fusion and Beam trimmed down their teams dramatically, proving you can’t save the Earth if your headcount isn’t optimized. Now China is not immune to this... Last month Microsoft also pulled back from China, leaving Wicresoft with 2k fewer employees, while once-hot startups like GupShup, Forto, and Turo are finding out the hard way that hype doesn’t pay salaries. Even the usually lethargic NASA made the layoff roundup, closing down DEI offices as if that somehow fits in with cuts at TikTok, Bird, and Redfin... Welcome to the future - it's automated, cost-efficient, and increasingly empty of actual people.

OP, you left out the 275K federal employees that have been cut so far with a lot more on the way. A lot of these are in technical roles.

You better make your resume standout if you want to be working because the number of job openings is going down and the number of applicants is going up exponentially.

We don't need AI to replace any of these buffoons. High school diploma is enough

I am sorry, but this is just something, the software engineers envisioned, designed and build the AI, they get it so good that it can do what they do - and now it is replacing them.
They should make an AI model that does the job of CEO, CTO and CFO and all ELT - then let’s see how many of them gets replaced by AI.

For every rest of industry layoff, Intel to match with one of its own. That’s the Intel GPTW!! Or GPTGLO… great place to get laid off.
