If my separation date is six months from now and I found a different job in the meantime which will start shortly after separation date, will I get paid VSP severance and on top of my new job?

That's a miss. More people would be willing to take the VSP offer if they could apply and feel safe for a period while actively job searching.
If you take VSP and you get a new job before your VSP separation date, you dont get VSP. You have to stay until the firm "releases" you which could be anywhere between September 25' and May 26' because they are going to set separation dates in phases for those that accept VSP.
Yes. If your new job starts after separation date, you will get the VSP and there is no restriction on taking the new job.
