Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Apparently all employees did not realize how much AI is watching your keystrokes, etc.

Tech takes screenshots of what is going on with your computer. The AI alarm systems alert them for live watching if needed. Ford may be slow or behind the times with some things like their vehicles but not with how they watch you. A lot of live watching is done.

Oh also since ford owns the laptops (MacBooks in this example), they can physically modify it before distributing it to an employee so it doesn’t show the light indicator when they don’t want it seen…

I remember when I got ratted when I was like 9 or 10ish

I saw the camera light turn on all confused and cr-p and the dude opened up a notepad on my screen to type and tell me to stay away from learning “cybersecurity” stuff and to be careful with downloading something like a bound stub unintentionally. I guess Norton was no match for a man modifying the file assembly on compilation and binding it to a legit executable and then pumping the file size and some other specific obfuscation techniques that allowed it to be fully undetected and then fool norton… and even virustotal’s av distribution list.
Lol

I feel like they did right thing and dropped me
from their phone home (command and control center) after that notepad interaction. At least I hope. I reformatted after for sanity jic

I always had respect for that lad on being a good role model in that moment albeit ratting people and perhaps things far worse (accidentally me being a kid for example). Also encouraging me to stay away etc

It really gave me faith in humanity in a round about way. Like even bad people do good things. Which evidently shows good people do bad things too. Nelson Mendela once said “if you can learn to hate you can learn to love”.. or something like that.

I don’t blame the person the ratted me at the time because they would not ever assume one of their targets was a kid. Literally did not come with the territory.

Good times. Also, random but hardware wise— they can enable cam without showing light. I believe that is what makes it a little harder on MacBooks if I recall correctly.. I believe you can’t activate the camera without the indicator light due to the physical hardware connection. Ask Google and deep dive if curious

They can do it and get away with it.

There was a story in Michigan some years ago where a middle school boy had a school laptop checked out. The school thought that it was overdue and turned on the camera and recorded images. Of course the kid was unaware and changing clothes. Sounds like a huge cr-p storm. The school didn't get into trouble at all because the computer was their property. Worst part was that the laptop wasn't overdue. The school made the mistake.

I believe thay Ford could absolutely track everything having to do with our company computers and phones...

Yeah if they were to do any of that they'd possibly be responsible for storing HIPPA information of some random person that happened to be on the phone with their doctor in the privacy of their own home. Now all the sudden IT has a problem they'd rather not have. It's not that they couldn't do it, just that it has implications I'm sure the legal office has thought about.

I'd be surprised if the tapped into the cameras. Seems like a huge invasion of privacy and maybe even crossing wiretapping laws.

They turn on your PC camera too in order to see if you are actually sitting in front of it and working.

Electrical tape fixed that problem for me.

But duct tape will work too. As will a strategically-placed Post It note.

If the management was any good, they wouldn't need these type of tactics and tools.

@c4+1jvnjenzv -

They don't have the money for this. If so they need to put as much effort into building vehicles that aren't constantly being recalled instead of tech to monitor employees actions, then they just might get somewhere.

I would bet it goes deeper than this. They probably partnered with a company like palantir to do AI analysis on all performance at the suggestion of a BCG or McKinsey.

It’s too bad we can’t get snapshots of leadership’s brain scans to show that there is not much going on there.

I have literally browsed pr0n on my work devices and wasn't canned.
I wouldn't recommend this but I was really h0rny and needed a fix at the time.

Agree with the last comment. When failures like FNV4 happen, it's a management failure. Isn't that who is ultimately responsible? Who was driving the ship? Not the GSRs that's for sure.

The job market is tough, so we don’t need more FNV4 people adding to the competition.

The company should consider reducing top layers of management and let some experience the real market life without fast-track promotions.
Some of them do not deserve them and will not survive in the real world !!!
