This is the word out there but find it hard to believe if the cuts were due to “lack of skills”. Please comment only if you know an LL6 that trusts you or if you know an HR person.

When it happened to me as a LL5 only the LL4s and above knew what was going to happen. The LL5s and LL6s had no input or advanced notice. Of course not 1 LL4 was laid off. They protected themselves. Some of them were worthless and really needed to go. It is amazing how much better leaders there are outside of Ford in better companies! Life after Ford is awesome!
It is true we (LL6s) are treated like GSR8+ and have no input or knowledge about layoffs. We only carry out management's orders.
LL6 are told who. Input was not sought.
LL6s are Ford are just glorified engineers.
LL5 are under NDA and LL6 are not. It’s the new ford way to make the company worse culturally.
So the LL6 is likely never consulted. The decisions exist above the 5 as well. The LL4 plus are responsible. It’s always the ones who deliver nothing.
I am very sure that it was LL4 selection , but the general direction was from Doggy.
If you were an LL6 and were TOLD to reduce your direct reports, wouldn't you say the same thing just to save your own A$$? That's what brown-nosed bobbleheads always do.
from an ll5 who retired, he said he knew and he had to give input about gsr and ll6 cuts but he said he didn't have final decision. i know, from experience, in 2019, those cuts, the ll6's, at least of GDIA, didn't know in advance.
My LL6 acted totally shocked when I told him I got the 16-minute meeting.
I’m pretty sure that he would have told me to get a job in another activity had he known in advance (there were other groups that were looking for people who did what I did that I worked with).
you really think an LL6 make the decision then you're a damn fool.. supervisor is nothing but a glorified baby sitter.. just a drill sergeant. not a decision maker. just stuck between a rock and a hard place... having to deal with a bunch of whining engineers below and a tough talking managers who don't know sh-t from above.
I was an LL6. I did not know the information until the day of.
I was an LL6, we never knew who was being let go for sure. As in, we were officially not included in communication or decisions. That said, I knew what my LL5 thought about my team members and where they were ranked. I usually would just be surprised how far up the list they did or didn’t go.
