Thread regarding IBM layoffs

The case for Rob Thomas

Whenever Arvind decides to retirement , Rob Thomas has my full support to be the next CEO

Leaders who have risen through the ranks, especially from functions like marketing that are intimately tied to customer experience and brand perception, often bring a unique perspective. Thomas’s long-term exposure to internal operations and external market forces positions him to bridge the gap between IBM’s storied legacy and its future strategic direction. His comprehensive view of the company’s strengths and areas for transformation could drive meaningful change at a time when IBM is reinventing itself.

Geebus. Someone can write good comedy. And if they are working at IBM, they are wasting that talent.
It’s the same technique of comedy gold that the pretend press secretary uses. Straight face saying the most outrageous things. It’s a skill for sure. 😆😆😆. GJ✅

I really like Rob's collaboration with Santana. Who knew he had this talent?

Yeah this is a ridiculous post. RT is the main thrust behind most of the layoffs. He sees no value in anything other than sales and even all of them are on PiPs. Hes not a technologist, not an especially shrewd business person, has no idea how R&D works, couldn’t write a line of code to literally save his life, doesn’t understand marketing - the most basic function of them all - and thinks he’s a “writer” because ….he says so, I guess? When he’s CEO expect a slew of McKinsey cretins to just come in and gut the place.

He’s intellectually honest. Obviously bright and direct. As well as all of the above. I’ll take someone cut from that cloth, versus a polished act, any day. What’s more, the reason so many tech companies are currently led by Indians is because they come with a relationship to India and the massive cheap talent pool in India. Rob Thomas is a departure from that. Given how little tax American corporations are currently paying, the very least they can do is start to create jobs for Americans instead of greedily chasing cheap labor offshore.
