We got the dreaded day before "urgent business update" meeting invite, just to be walked off the unit that some of my colleagues knew for over 20 years barely 24 hours after. Security escort through the halls early in the morning like we were some intruders or unwanted house guests. It's been such a mix of emotions but we're also feeling a great sense of liberation.
The fact that they try to encourage you to apply for another job within the organization before the 60 day notice period is up is insanity. 1. How are you still hiring when you're in the process of mass layoffs? 2. Why would I want to step foot back in this place after you've kicked me off the premises like I meant nothing? 3. Then also offering job placement through the affiliated temp agency is even wilder. Fire me from the company to potentially rehire me through a temp agency so I can get paid less and you won't have to worry about benefits?
I just needed to vent.. Sending love and solidarity to all those affected by the layoffs- especially those who dedicated many years to this company. US surgical vets, Covidien vets. We'll find our way again soon!
