Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Product development the old way is path forward.

How many of you knew Gen 13 and 14 su-ked a-s? I imagine a great deal of you did but the executives at modern Intel only listen to management.

Intel needs a direct link to the CEO with engineers, driver development and validation.

Product launch requires a Go/No-Go checked off by EACH MEMBER of EACH TEAM. Authority should exist for ALL INVOLVED during launch checkpoint and if anyone calls No-Go YOU STOP AND FIX IT. (regardless of job function or perceived importance of employee who called No-Go).

You don't need a bunch of managers (yes men) in charge of product launch. It was done as a checklist in an email in the early days.

This is the way Intel functioned under Andy Grove. It was stressful but it worked.

Why do Intel employees always want things to be like they were in the past? Do you drive a model T, do you use lead based paint on your house and insulate with asbestos? They all seemed like good ideas at the time. This brain dead fear of change and doing things in new ways is what got the company into this situation. Just because something worked once doesn't mean that it is the only way to do things now and in the future. The rest of the world evolved and left Intel behind.

For those of you giving me sh-t on this. Find a new place to be a "Manager" because it look like the real BOSS wants to go old School.

5/19/2025:
Tan doesn’t want to hear that kind of embarrassment secondhand. “If I hear bad news from customers before I hear it from employees,” he warned, “you will be in big trouble.” In a flourish of accessibility, Tan noted that his personal cell phone number is printed on his business card. “You can text me anytime you want.”"

I don't think you get it. Intel was a completely different company back then. A manager was like a sports team manager. If you called out bugs in a product your manager felt great for hiring a great employee and your colleagues were also happy to have you on the team. (The team that finds the most defects) it was a goal. There were sevral whiney engineers who hated the old system because it called them out to fix their sh-t. One that comes to mind was Pat G. I tried to tell you people. He was NOT the messiah you needed to turn it back around

Judging by the comments after the nogo your manager thanks you for your commitment to honesty and quality and your coworkers mob you to death in the parking structurr

The key difference between Manager and Boss is that a Boss makes decisions without input from the team.

You see how that can be a problem when you release a product like Gen 13 & 14?

I’m sure your “Team” knew it was garbage and as a “Manager” you should have listened to them and fixed it or canceled it.

But thinking you’re a “Boss” you released that garbage to the customer.

Old timer back in the ring for prospective. I checked No-Go on a Pentium release and my manager thanked me and gave me kudos. That could never happen in todays clusterfu-k you call Intel.

You're a "manager" NOT a Boss! and one of the thousands of unnecessary "Intel managers" at that so you shouldn't be to uppity in your public statements.

I'm saying get rid of management. And Lip is listening. It is what got in the way of Intel having quality products. P.S. Fu-k you loser! Maybe you can "manage" a furniture store if you can pass the interview.

This is currently the stupidest post, but I'm sure someone will try ever harder to be more stupider.

So you want a route around management to report things that contradict what managements says? (This actually made me laugh out loud, thanks!) Anyone who speaks out would get squished like a bug. It won't happen right away but you could count on your career stalling. Pointing out publicly that your boss or their boss is wrong or lying will not improve your life.

The world is much more complicated than in the days of Andy Grove.

Never gonna happen...That would mean the CEO would be held accountable with everyone else at product launch and he would actually need to personally run the company. lol
