Sources of everyday stress

I remember how I used to do my work quite relaxed but now there is not a single day here that is stress free. It is becoming increasingly harder to deal with bad vibes. It's as if everything has become a source of stress here? I can't tell what creates more pressure for me - unrealistic expectations, rude manager or backstabbers.

Life after Ascension has been amazing. 20%+ bump in pay, better benefits, actual support from upper management, never worrying that someone halfway across the country has a bright idea that will drastically change my life because they want to see what will happen.

ACTUAL work life balance. Few levels up boss came to me the other day to express how happy she is that I came to work for them almost a year ago, and how important I am to them. My direct ex-Ascension manager I could see doing that, but no one higher.

Leave, and don't go back.

Why are you staying?

The benefits? Even contracting companies offer benefits.

The money? Surely, you jest! Ascension does not pay competitively - especially on the IT side.

Because of the workfriends you will leave behind? I'm guessing there aren't a lot of them left, and the backstabbers you mention are more prolific than ever before because they, too, are stressed and maybe afraid of losing their jobs.

Fear of the unknown? That's a valid fear. But do you see many people coming back to Ascension when they have the chance?

I hope you take some time to reach out to some recruiters and at least see what's out there. There is life beyond Ascension. And it's much happier!

I've heard one good way to relieve stress is to switch to Geico.
