That none of you are commenting after the TH. It makes me laugh how caught up you are in rumours.

@c7 this is incorrect there were layoffs in the field . Do your research.
This is a dead end cycle:
- Stock price is coming low
- Lets layoff X, Y, Z
- Stock price is up again
.....
- Within a month, oh we need someone to do the job of X, Y, Z. Lets hire for those positions
- Provide training to new hires (which costs money)
- go back to step 1
You know they’ve laid off enough people over the years cats out of the bag , it’s not the place to work they are going to have problems retaining good people no matter what they pay
So you are saying Cenovus is Blockbuster Video? Yeah, I guess that sounds about right.
I am sure they are happy with their severance cheques. So much for the thousands of people to be laid off. Lol drama queens.
I’m sure those who lost their job didn’t feel like a rounding error.
Massacre lol. 170 people. Almost a rounding error at best
I think everyone’s exhausted after the may massacre.
I heard the HR group is being reviewed.
How did we just get through THREE rounds of layoffs in November, April and May with virtually no effect on the massive, bloated, G&A su-king HR Department??? Many business units eliminated director positions, yet HR still has 7 or more Directors! How does our CLT and board of directors allow this to continue?
If you want to return more money to shareholders, a great start would be trimming HR to reasonable levels which would lead to massive savings on G&A.
This would be much better than laying off technical staff who actually create value and generate cash flow.
I love reading about all the whiny little witches complaining about working from the office 5 days a week and the vacation purchase program. If you have it so bad go find another job and good riddance!
You need a smaller cubical. Lol
If I had a 2000 square foot office like the CEO I wouldn’t have an issue working 5 days in the office either. Over half my week is in meetings and the other half is me trying to get things done in an extremely distracting environment.
That's the comms group's job. Everything vetted and scripted. Helix announcement was kiboshed.
Guaranteed all questions were seeded. They supply the questions to the individuals to ask.
Bring back vacation purchase. HR’s d-mb carry-over policy led to its demise. Logic = hard. Accountant running the ship is like the blind leading the blind, again. Just because you dictate cash flows in a spreadsheet doesn’t make it happen. Why do we need forecasting teams if you already know the numbers. Weird that we keep missing our targets.
Two minutes of air time was dedicated to 5 days in office and the response was unsatisfactory at that. Something vague about collaboration, as if we can't get that from 4 days in office. Something about him caring about the amalgamated health of the business, rather than the individual's. So much for a "compassionate company". With so many smart and thoughtful questions in the chat about 5 days, it's a shame the execs didn't get around to addressing even one.
Very true! TH had a huge list of posted questions that never got addressed, with extensive upvotes but clearly got ignored by the CLT. Seems typical.
Also the layoffs were only mentioned on this site or the actual news media or family/ friends checking in. Nothing was ever addressed or acknowledged company wide.
He also had an extremely poor response when asked the lay off question during Q1 release call.
Not sure what ‘rumours’ OP is referring to?
Were there not layoffs the prior 2 weeks?
Were the groups mentioned here, specifically IT and SCM not the ones that were impacted?
People would not have to come here to get information if the company was more forthcoming. I know I’d prefer never coming to this site. The good news is that we can gripe about this in-person when we’re back to 5-days in the office.
To the other poster, TH = town hall.
As far as the town hall goes, the CLT skirted over the tough questions. I’d rate the town hall as meh if that was an option on the survey. Oh, and Jon’s experience of office culture is the opposite of my experience of boring coffee chats and petty office drama.
Sorry, took the day off. Thought there might be a fire alarm.
Sorry, I am still learning about this. What is the "TH"?
