Dreaded meeting tips

For those about to get laid off. Are there any tips on what should or should not be asked?

Anything that should be prepared before the meeting?

They don’t really say much except they’re going in a different direction and you have been eliminated. I responded by saying I was very productive and always had very good reviews and asked if they could tell me why I was eliminated. I got a blank stare because they obviously couldn’t give me the real reason. Advise… give yourself a couple of days to feel bad about it then decide on your next steps and get busy with that. Stay focused on where you’re headed instead of where you’ve been. You will make it through this and will likely be better off.

From what I remember, I really said nothing. I was told our department was transitioning in a new direction and thanked me for my service. I would receive all the info for my SP in my personal email. Translation-we are cutting the last of the people left in Michigan because we have filled your positions with people in Brazil and Mexico. Have a good life.

It was tough for awhile, but it does get better. I am in a better position career wise and have a better attitude going to work everyday!

Ouch I’m sorry dude. Best of luck. I don’t have any good advice, but you could always bring a clown: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-49708570.amp
