How long has ford been monitoring because I heard rumors of this before I ever received a notice but I feel like they only did it last second so now I am wondering what are they really collecting data wise

Whole teams got let go. So whatever got assigned to your manager might trickle down to you
I've had only a few github contributions this year due to the nature of tickets I've been assigned and I was not cut but a team member was.
i dont think it's github metrics they are using.
Survey has nothing to do with it. It is anonymous, but that said, management can usually figure out where written comments come from. The guy in the group who has grumbled about issue X the most, will magnify their complaint in a survey, but forget that they use the same key words in the complaint they have dropped over the past year,
LL5s always have a ranked list and are ready to cut whatever percentage is asked. However, LL4 and LL5s themselves will add people from higher up if they are complainers or they just want them gone which sometimes saves people who are near the to of the cut line. Never publicly disagree with an LL4, they have a big say in bonuses and layoffs.
I spent most of my career in the tech industry and dealt with cuts everywhere,
Our supervisor told us that the surveys were in fact not anonymous.
They were likely used as a culling tool
Jira and GitHub metrics for the past quarter or two may have played a role in deciding who got cut. It's probably also safe to assume that the "anonymous" surveys sent out by HR weren't anonymous, although I don't know how much of a role that would have played in the layoff decisions.
