@257 I agree that AI and the human-like robots are creating a race between companies.

Best to not be in the way of that. Even better to reskill to take advantage of it.

This will be the biggest transformation since the industrial revolution. Not a good time to be a buggy whip maker.

Intel will have to start getting much more serious about the headcount reduction.

Could be less than 30k people in 5 years, as AI and robotics will be the fastest technology adoption in history.

The ability to scale and deploy new technologies is speeding up and companies have learned to be fast and early or be left behind.

The companies which are slow on AI and robotics will likely not survive, such is the difference in productivity.

@14k Dressing up as a robot is not going to work.

Seems like this could replace at least 50% of the fab workers, plus subfab and facilities.

In fact, this might start in all the support areas, then work its way into the fab.

Looks like these machines are only a couple years from adoption and once it starts it will happen with lightning speed.

The first one will be a trial, the next 100 a novelty, the next 1000 will replace new hires, the next 10,000 will replace all but the most experienced workers.

Once the new hire pipeline is eliminated, looks like people will have to have an advanced degree to work in the fab. Probably be highly paid but it won't be the current grunt work.

Probably not a surprise, but electronics has the highest rate of adoption for robots.

The human input consists of largely repetitive tasks and equipment is so expensive that anything which reduces downtime will draw investment.

That should give all those fabs workers more time to mindlessly troll (but not on company time).

If human do not know how to do it, how will AI know? AI needs learning from intelligent people who actually know.
