Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Hollowing out

Used to be proud to work here. Believed in the work, the culture, the people but hat version of Exxon’s long gone.

Now it’s just fake deadlines, short handed teams, meetings about meetings, and disconnect management. Most the folks that actually know the oil business are either gone, checked out, or barely hanging on. And every time someone leaves, it’s like we just pretend nothing happened and shift the work around.

Still here… for now. But it feels like we’re just papering stuff over while work moves to the low cost tech centers. Wouldn’t be surprised of more US layoffs are already in the pipe. Nobody says much but seems like the writings on the wall.

Ops first paragraph hits hard. Those of us who remember how it used to be are definitely hurting.

Get rid of LCS. It is a total pretense game and a scam. The employees and management I LCS is worst among worst. Take note of why we moved there. The ones with a Ph.D. degree are the biggest frauds. Unhirable everywhere else so we need to grow bones for them.

When XTO became EXXON, that was the lowest point in many people career.

Exxon is all fluff. There is no real work or substance to what we do. I learned that years ago. The algae fiasco was one of the worst. Guyana was a lucky find and exxon almost did not want it. It was only because of a few brave engineers that pushed Guyana that exxon has it. All of the work is for someone's ranking and that is it.
