Thread regarding UPS layoffs

Severance info

I’d like to know if there have been any changes to severance since the last round of layoffs or compared to the official information. I’ve heard that severance is far from guaranteed, and it would be good to know ahead of time what we might have to expect if we’re among those affected.

I use to think UPS top management was smart, but now I realize that they are not. They have a lot of older operations management employees 55 years old and older that they should offer a buyout to. They have not, they will just make these older operations management employees job life miserable by moving them from building to building and changing their work hours until they force retirement or die, whichever comes first

To be fair to the employees getting outsourced they should be offered VSAP prior to getting outsourced to whom ever. The employees are the victims in this case while ELT banks millions.

Outsourcing was not known at the time VSAP was on the table. What can be done to encourage ELT to bring it back for the sake of being a decent employer.

Rsap is coming to at least the technology group after vsap offers are finalized. Sounds like some sales teams might have already been impacted

Watch out what you sign away for severance. Get legal advice first.

One year max severance is reasonable in this job market.

For management, if you take the VSAP, you cannot collect unemployment because you voluntarily separated. If you choose to not take the VSAP, you will likely later get the RSAP package anyway that has a lower severance, but you can then collect unemployment because you were involuntarily separated. This could pay off though depending on how much unemployment pays in your area and how long you expect to be laid off for.

I had RSAP last September. I received 6 months' salary and would have gotten vacation pay but I had used most of it. I had one week that hadn't accrued yet. Health insurance was covered for 3 months. I was low level management.

Only Union employees have guarantees in writing. Management is just hangi-g chads with no guarantees. Make sure to work only Union at your next job, it is well worth the $100.00 per month insurance/ Union dues always.

I have not heard anything yet. The executives just got a pay raise. They should at least give a years salary, plus mip, of applicable and any vacation due the following year. A great company would also pay for their employees healthcare for a year. But, I guess that is hoping for too much. UPS use to be a great company to work for, but now it's just an average company. UPS top management, brokerage a bad deal
