Thread regarding Illumina Inc. layoffs

iPulse survey results not being shared.

Anyone else’s team not had their iPulse survey results shared? I know they’ve been available for a while now, but my team hasn’t even mentioned them and when pressed about having a call to discuss them I’m getting stonewalled from line management that “they haven’t seen them” and “I don’t have them. But they’re not important anyway”.

My team gutted in the recent RIFs has gone from being transparent and collaborative. To opaque and frankly toxic.

I feel that this attitude is becoming common across the board.

Thoughts?

iPulse survey was shared in our team and was discussed in an all hands by the VP. There was nothing useful came out of it. The message from VP was basically "yeah, it was bad but what do you expect us to do."

This shows the level of disdain and how fearful everyone is with all the RIF's... it's sad. A company can't thrive and grow like this.

Nobody is looking at your IP address. The survey is administered by an external 3rd party. You think Jacob is phoning them up and saying “Hey, listen, guys, I’m thrashing just trying not to drown at this place, but I read the thousands of responses to our survey, and I need you to pull up the IP addresses of these six respondents. I know that data won’t really tell me anything, and most likely the address will have come from Illumina’s corporate ISP anyway, but still, I need you to go dig up that useless information and send it to me, so I can put my energy into retaliating against those employees rather than trying to keep my institutional investors from jumping ship and tanking the market cap by a few more $ billion.” After the survey vendor gets done laughing and telling him it violates their policies and the service agreement with ILMN, they’ll get busy (probably not) scouring for the information and might (likely not) send it six weeks later.

Nobody cares about who said what in the survey. I mean, isn’t that what everyone always says… that nobody in exec mgt cares about the feedback..? Can’t have it both ways.

Do they actually track you back to your IP address? How does that work? Not very tech savvy here.

Conducting such a survey is a waste of money and time. Imagine how many company hours are wasted in this process when it's obvious that employees are not happy. It should be a shame for the HR department to send the survey link to employees who see different compensation components within an organization for different titles.

It’s not anonymous. They can track you back with your IP address.

Oh, no, no-no-no-no. You still believe iPulse is anonymous and used for your benefit??? …sigh.

I let that email sit in my junk folder.

This round iPulse is an outlier. Omit.

Our team did not see, review, or discuss the results, but I assume the outcome was down in the gutter bad enough to have been the reason why a few of our managers and directors were part of the recent RIF. Micromanagement (once a issue) is now nil but leadership support and team comraderie are a joke at this point. Also, ILMN can't afford to keep employees on the books but tell me why there is money to pay for specific people doing monthly travel / hotel accommodations / rental cars / meals - cost savings my @$$. Give us back our bonuses and RSUs, I don't need your sweet talk, honey water words, and false hope. If your team is having pretty and fuzzy open discussions about the iPulse results, know that it means nothing and things will continue to be the way they are. Think long and hard about what was and where we are today. Been here for 6yrs, and I'll see it when I see it, until then, keep drinking the koolaid.

Well well, nice to know there is people who has faith in iPulse survey.

Here at APAC in certain department the given top down directive is to stage the survey resulting high participation and excellent rating . So sharing of result is unnecessary as the result is already casted in concrete from the start.

Our group was briefly shown the results, but they seemed so bad that our manager didn't even want to discuss them. Kind of meaningless at this point.

We got ours right before the riff. We’ve had three calls to discuss. 1:1 with manager, team discussion, and team discussion sans manager.
