Tariffs are saving GM

They keep BYD out of the US market.

If BYD ever comes here, GM won't last long.

Engineers are asked to study competitor data in our system. I have been doing deep dives with 3D cad data of BYD EVs. They are next level. They are designed with a level of high integration and simplicity. They aren't catching up, they have past us up. If they enter our market, you can rest assured that you will be looking for another job. Since Michigan is highly manufacturing-reliant, that means your friends and family will also be jobless. Close the plants, tech centers and the suppliers, the business-to-business activity, restaurants, nail salons, gas stations, etc will close.
Be careful what you wish for.

PS GM with it's nepotism, silo thinking and long-term "favorite" supplier integration has the failure baked in. This will sink the ship. Frantic cost-cutting and pressure on employees will only accelerate the demise.
