People from poor countries want to move to rich countries for better opportunities.
Almost none of them qualify under the tradtional definition of asylum: being persecuted on the basis of race, religion, or national origin.
Their countries are usually poor, maybe have a high crime rate, maybe have an authoritarian government.
They should stay home and fix their problems. If they have bad governments they should change them.
But that's a lot of work and it's easier to go to another country that's already done the work.
So I don't really blame them for wanting a better life the easy way.
I blame the developed countries for ignoring their own immigration laws and letting them in anyway, especially when they come from incompatible cultures that prevent assimilation.
