Whats going on? How come I cant have an office and shut the door when I want? I get more work done than my manger. Well company related work anyway.

Do you see any office supplies out for employees to use?
does your company have a phone system for employees? One you can make outside calls on?
When was the last time the thing that "manages" you bought you lunch?
Is your check clearing?
Is the HR pu-s ridden veeeeeeginal belch smiling at work?
Is the thing you report being more distant and standoffish than usual ( most of them are anyway)
Is the same thing you report to giving free ones to its boss and its boss's boss
Did an activist Stock Investor bring some fresh blood to the B.O.D?

I could handle "fine print" as opposed to "fine grit" in the lube, DAILY!

I agree,
The manager of my group has been sitting in a closed office for years. It looks busy when necessary, then retreats behind a closed door whenever it feels safe. No one knows if it’s actually working, napping, out buying snacks, or even working a second job from its desk. Honestly, no one cares. For a little while longer, it will keep its job-just like its immediate chain of command.
This manager, who essentially "manages" behind a closed door, has survived so many cycles that it's like a blind blob in the ocean, bumping into food just to survive. But there’s not much left to feed on. The company is ripe for restructuring-changes that, if done right, will benefit shareholders.
I believe Starboard is about to turn most of the bloated management into statistics-sooner rather than later. Excess management simply isn’t needed for the next phase. I wonder where they’ll end up next. Well, the world always needs ditch diggers.
Lean initiatives haven’t worked for the past three and a half years, but Clemmer is well-suited for what’s coming. Starboard didn’t choose him at random.

Closed doors are irrelevant to layoffs unless certain other criteria are met:
●Is this for increased closed-door meetings among senior leaders?
●Is the silence out of the ordinary: Managers or HR becoming less communicative?
●Reorganization to fill every vacant position internally regardless of the depletion of labor at lower levels. (you've been sold. Filling all company positions before a sale increases a company's value by demonstrating stability, profitability, and a transferable business model. Let the new administrator sort it out. )
●During the latest review season did you get requests to document your work or processes in detail? (you are on the list)
●Is there increased secrecy and vague communication on current projects? (you are on the list )
●Has HR become more involved in day-to-day activities or requesting updated contact info? (you are on the list).
●Have you had a requests for you to document your current project status earlier than scheduled? (you are on the list.)
●Are there rumors and general uncertainty in your department? ( you might be on the list).
Oh Boy..... someones not happy.
