Hoping I get laid off as well
I did get laid off a year ago. I posted that my job got sent to India by the executives at the time. Life goes on. I found a new job the next day. I have multiple master's degrees in different fields of engineering and a lot of real industrial experience. So, I found a new job quickly. Also, I am not married with children. That lessens the blow.
To me, ending a job is not nearly as bad as ending a horrible marriage with division of assets, child custody battles, infidelity leading to unplanned pregnancy with affair partner, vitriol in court and social media, etc. I listened to a lot of YT videos by a divorced dad named John Griffin. I can handle a job ending, but it seems like ending a marriage is exponentially worse these days. I'm glad I never took that plunge. Maybe someday when I grow up I'll do it - lol.
