Taking Severance

I was given a severance to leave the company. There are three dates on the forms, I am not sure which date to put on my resume. One Date was the date they spoke with me, the other date was five days after the day the spoke to me -- I had to be available for questions if needed - the date was the termination date months later. Which date needs to be placed on a resume for when companies run background checks? My let go date is months but less than a year from the term date they put so it's a big difference and I dont want to be let of from a prospective job because they thought I put the wrong date. I would prefer not to have any interaction with HR at this toxic company. It's sad that your own manager cant be part of the let go process knowing they were part of the process. I call this being a coward

Look at your severance paperwork. There is an "effective date" and a "severance date" or "retirement date". You are still, technically, an employee until your severance/retirement date.

I believe it's two weeks per year of employment.

I bet this person is saying they have had the severance and have past the termination date or almost will past the term date which would be the third date option—last date. Severance is great but being let go in this economy is brutal especially if this person is over 40 years old or has a disability which the likely hood of being hired shrinks because these companies are bias and can hide behind a curtain that somehow protects them from the so called protection laws in place

First congrats! I have been waiting for them to give my a severance sine payroll will be no longer. I would use the first date. During an interview, you can mention that you took a severance package and that you may flag as a current EE since you are on the payroll until a certain date.

It doesn't matter, but the first date allows you to look immediately. Strange putting a future date on a resume, and that comes up as you're still employed.

Others don't matter. BTW - Congratulations on getting a golden ticket!
