Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

I just got done with the layoff playbook meeting with HR…

So we went over how we do it and when, etc…

It starts on Tuesday May 13th. All meetings are with the manager and HRBP. Meeting invites are sent out by this Monday EoB. If an employee is on leave or vacation, then the manager is to reach out to the known cell phone on Monday to set up a meeting. If by Tuesday no response, then they reach out to the emergency/alternate contact info on Workday.
On Tuesday by End of Day there should be a meeting with your teams to indicate that “all clear” and whatever is done, is done.

Talk about diversity and inclusion Medtronic Neurovascular laid off a whole bunch of Asians and kept their Caucasian management from MN in their position.

Can confirm that OP’s post is accurate. This is exactly how it’s playing out in my group.

A lot of work done by HR can be replaced by AI. The technology won't completely replace the human factor, but it can augment a lot of it. So, that means even HR will likely face an RIF in the near future due to AI - probably by the 2030s. I completed a project on the use of AI for the discovery of novel pharmaceutical dr-g designs. AI is being used in a lot of fields.

Looks like MIP will be inversely proportional to the number of layoffs. So hope for a bunch….as long as it’s not you!

I am hearing that Diabetes and surprisingly Surgical will get hit pretty hard. CST not so much and Cardio will be protected. Other divisions/OUs I don’t have as much visibility to.

I think that the managers were notified just then in the “playbook” meeting.

Most of the layoff decisions have been made at the VP/Director level. When will managers know who in their group will be let go?

I think anyone that says they just talked to HR is trolling us.

This site makes predictions like a doomsday cult. When one date passes, another one pops up and no one mentions the last one.

All these posts do is cause anxiety. Please provide concrete info or do not post. Remember there are a lot of people who really need the income, not the added stress that this time of year already brings. GLTA
