My point is (and I'm not HR) that a month/year has not been the 'norm' in O&G for a long long time. The longer you are there the more it will be but just don't bet on it. If you've been there 8 yrs and get 6 months that is more than fair. I know someone who did tried to get more and lawyer advised it would cost more in legal fees than what it would be worth. But everyone do what you want...just sayin'

Serverance in Alberta under the Employment Standards Code is minimum of 8 weeks after 10 years employment. Look it up. Google. Anything above that is discretionary.

Minimum a month a year? That's hilarious. There is no legal requirement for that (never was) and is no longer industry standard. Be happy with 2 wks/year. See a lawyer if you don't like it knowing any legal challenge will take a least a year to resolve and you do not get any severance during litigation AND your lawyer will take most of if IF you win. If you don't you also get to pay legal fees for CVE.

It doesn’t matter what packages are like.

Minimum should be a month a year, which includes value of bonus over term if severance, all company savings and rrsp contribtions, value of benefits and vacation and stock.
