... nothing ... literally nothing.
There are tons of threads daily asking about severance, BUs, benefits etc.
Right now - all we know is in Source. Anything else - NO ON knows - no matter how often you ask on this board. This is an anonymous message board and whilst I understand you want some positivity out of it and maybe some guidance as to what you supposed to do (i.e. leave or not) - only YOU can make the decision and you should NOT use any clues gathered from this board to make such decision.
The bottom line is
- Severance
No one here will be able to give you a definite sum / number.
a. They are different from region to region
b. Current packages known to HR are likely left over from Pat's annual layoffs. It does not mean you can rely on them being the same after the acquisition completes.
What to do ? Check your local laws because worst case scenario - that is what it comes down to. For example UK : https://www.gov.uk/redundancy-your-rights
Whereas in California there is no legal requirement for redundancy pay: https://www.shouselaw.com/ca/labor/severance-pay/
So take worst case scenario and make up your mind.
- Is my BU / job safe
NO ONE here knows. And the people that may know (execs from VMware or Bcom) won't identify themselves here. Even IF someone posts a proof (i.e. mail / letter) it doesn't mean it reflects your own situation.
So no - you are not safe until you are ...
Only YOU determine your own future. And only YOU know whether you can affording getting laid off.
- Do your fu----g job ... or not and leave
That's what it comes down to. Two options here
a. You got zero motivation for whatever reason = Look for a new job and leave. You are getting paid to do a job - so do your job. VMware, believe it or not, is JUST another company. You are a number no matter how long you are here for. The 'company' (being it VMware or BCOM) will get rid of you without any fear. So leave without fear.
b. You cannot find a new job / you want to stay = Do your job that you get paid for. Simple.
Obvious option number 3
c. You don't know what to do = Mixture of #1 and #2 ... Update your resume / cv, do your job you get paid for - keep your feelers out and if something comes up - great - take it - if not - work until someone tells you not to anymore.
Fact is - and I can only repeat it 100 times
You are safe until you are not any more.
Welcome to adulthood ....
