Today, remote workers company wide were told to move back by 10/1 or be let go. They have until mid-June to let the company know their plans.

This is true you’re required to come in 10/1 if you want to keep your job or take severance.
The absurd part of this is the completely inconsistent rollout of this messaging. In some groups people are being told about classification changes and timelines. Yet I have not heard one single word and my manager claims to know nothing.
I should also clarify, it’s not ALL remote employees being mandated back to office. Only some (lucky me). Our team had a high percentage of remote employees, and our VP was basically told to give a list of the roles she was going to bring back into office.
I just got told today by my VP that my role will no longer be remote and I must return to office by 10/1 via relocation or accept a severance package at that time. I’ll never move to DC. So it looks like I have 5 months to find a new job…
I was hired similarly, Doodah. I am not close to an office and was told I need to inform them by 6/20 if I will be coming in 8 times a month starting in October. I have no intention of moving to DC. I have a family, surrounded by family. I'll get by.....
I was hired 100% remote. Have my meeting tomorrow for worker classification update. Manager and director.
I was just informed today. Su-ks, I was working on some fun stuff. Now I need to look into maximizing this lame duck period while I look for a new gig. I was hoping we’d somehow get a “legacy remote” type of deal where they just don’t hire remote anymore. I should probably figure out how to drop this on my wife too.
The impact on family with kids in such adverse economic and political environment is tremendous. People made big change to take the remote position and now was forced to be out of job. Feel deeply deceived.
So next weeks email is to tell anyone not close to an office that they need to move to one or else they will be terminated? Is this for the technically "hybrid" employees or does it include the remote employees? We have both.
It's definitely true. We we're given anther meeting today "pausing" the rollout of next week's email. Whatever that means. We're all aware of Pulte being DOGE. We're all aware this is just a way to get us to quit because we refuse to relocate to Texas.
Maybe it wasn't for every dept because radio silence in mine and 50% of us aren't near an office.
The fact that I've seen several colleagues that I know are remote turn their LinkedIn to "Actively Seeking" throughout the day yesterday tells me it's probably true.
Is Plano office considered remote if the entire team is in DC
It's completely true. I work in Plano and it was confirmed by my manager and several team leads including two who are affected by it. Some won't be told until tomorrow.
This is not true. I work there and I’m remote. Someone posted something about layoffs at Freddie on Reddit too. Not sure why people get off on starting rumors and scaring people.
The Freddie deal allowed for some to keep remote status but others had to be back by 8/1. Presume they will do something similar.
No chance this is real
Plan is on hold.
What BU were affected?
Confirmed. Impacts vary by BU
I don’t believe this to be true.
I haven’t heard this so curious what teams.
I think some remote workers are able to remain remote as determined by their leaders.
I didn’t receive such message. I am remote.
