Thread regarding NCR Corp. layoffs

Did you have enough time to move your personal files?

I know that many did not have time to move their personal files after they were informed about the layoff. It all happens very quickly, so you should always be prepared in this regard - move your personal files on time!

Get personal one drive set up and have all the stuff you want to take there. If they give you notice you can do a windows reset to wipe your hard drive and still have your stuff backed up to one drive.

Hard but try not to have personal item like accounts finance stuff. Think the most time is 7 years. I used spinrite from Gibson Research Corp to erase drive.
But I had more time than OP as I was virtual at the time to run it

Weekly, “moved” not copied personal files to external device. Mainly because ncr keeps copies “plural” on your contents.

In 2018 after 31 years at NCR I submitted my 2- week notice. My Manager convinced me to stay a bit longer because there was an upcoming layoff and this would allow me to get the package. So I knew the layoff was coming but was not certain of the exact date. This extra time allowed me to train a co-worker on how to do certain aspects of my job. On layoff day as I recall it was around 8:30 in the morning that I and others received an email asking us to bring our personal belongings to a conference room at 11:00. That was just enough time for me to remove any remaining personal files, answer any pertinent emails, and say goodbye to co-workers. That day I technically retired from full-time work at just 54 years old and have never regretted it.
